Comments: I dont know if what I'm about to write can even Express my gratitude for what I'm about to put down.
3 months ago, my hip began to lock up and as a chiropractor and former competitive bodybuilder, I knew something didn't "feel" right. This was not just a soft tissue injury that would heal up on it's own.
On my own, I got an MRI and it showed two extensive tears in my right labrum. Of course I knew what that meant, so I began asking fellow chiropractors, fellow athletes that I remember whom had similar issues, fellow patients that I remember having labrum issues who they had heard was good....and Dr. Ochiai's name came up time and time again. That's how I found the Master.
Within of 6 weeks of my first visit with Dr. Ochiai i got my surgery!!! His entire team, including Emily and Mary were miracle workers!!! I'm 51, and according to Mary, the surgical coordinator, BCBS will not pay for my specific procedure (49...they would...over 50, normally they dont). Well....she got Dr. Ochiai to write appeal after appeal after appeal and finally I got the great news...BCBS was going to pay for the entire surgery!!!
Then the next step was to find a day for my operation. Because of personal pending obligations, for me the sooner the better. In fact, the reality was, if I didn't have the operation b4 first week of September, it would have to wait till mid February (and because the codes that Bcbs approved expired sometime in October, I did not want to have Dr. Ochiai go through that entire maze of paperwork again).
So week by week Mary would call me moving my date up...slowly but surely. I think my original date was slated for November 8, but Mary understood my schedule and got me in for Surgery yesterday, August 29. And here is where my gratitude runs really deep. Thursdays are not the day Dr. Ochiai does his surgery's. He came in especially for me and for that, I will forever be grateful.
Ochiai is a master at his trade, and he is a caring Doctor. I'll admit this...I'm a utter nightmare to deal with if I feel things could be done better, but from start to finish....not that I wish surgery on anyone....but from start to finish I give everyone a 10 out of10, and if you ever EVER need someone to do hip reconstruction repairs, Dr. Ochiai is the go to person!!
Follow up...7 days post surgery, I am able to walk without crutches or a brace. Still have a slight limp, but way ahead of what I expected.
FOLLOW UP...DAY 14. I'm back in the gym, I'm back in the office doing consults but not subjecting my body by giving chiropractic adjustments yet. I barely have a limp, and haven't used crutches since day 4 or day 5, I think.
I owe much of this almost miraculous recovery to Dr. Ochiai, as the patients I've talked with, whom have had the same surgery with different DOCS, did not have the same speed of recovery!
Kudos, Dr. Ochiai!!!! You are the best!!
ONE LAST FOLLOW UP!!! Today is September 18. My surgery was on August 29. Dr. Ochiai wont like this, but today I just did my first round of squats! No PR's, but I successfully completed 3 sets of 95 lbs for 15 reps each. I'm very satisfied. B4 my surgery, I couldn't squat or do deadlifts bc of the lack of ROM. Now, less than 3 weeks post surgery, I can so things I could not do before Dr. Ochiai did his magic.
